2021 Year in Review

Now that we are a few weeks into the new year, we wanted to reflect on 2021 and all our accomplishments in the last year. If 2021 taught us anything, it was that we need to be flexible and be able to adapt to the ever-changing world around us. Flexibility is a core value, and our organizational structure is designed to be nimble allowing us to meet our customers’ needs while consistently maintaining high-quality outcomes backed by our 100% Zero-Defect Guarantee. While supply chain disruptions, skilled worker shortages, global climate concerns, environmental regulations, and consumer demand were pressing challenges for everyone due to the ongoing pandemic, it is in our corporate DNA to revisit, reevaluate, and reprioritize the core services and capabilities that MSI offers its customers.

MSI had a very successful 1st quarter to set the tone for an incredible 2021 and we could not have done so without our amazing team. We saw the highest production volumes since opening 25 years ago in 1996, which created many opportunities for members of our team to take on new roles and resulted in an influx of new employees joining our team to keep up with our customers’ growing demands. MSI also added a new machine, the AMADA HG 1303 Hydraulic Press Brake, allowing us to expand our capabilities to include Metal Forming and Bending.

We express our sincere appreciation for all the hard work we saw in 2021, as it led us to make improvements in all areas of MSI’s Core Services of Contract Manufacturing, Logistics, and Fulfillment.

  1. Created new organization systems for inventory needed for assembly and sub-assembly

  2. Expanded and streamlined our production areas

  3. Revised assembly and sub-assembly lines to run full production with two shifts

  4. Continued performing quality tests on machines after they are built

  5. Added cleaning stations to improve machine cleanliness

  6. Developed a new receiving inspection system for tracking incoming and completed inspections

  7. Expanded to three Receiving inspection stations

  8. Implemented new processes to handle LMS Carbon

  9. Started composting all pallet and cardboard waste

The MSI Design and Marketing teams spent 2021 creating a new website for MSI while updating our social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We refreshed our branding, creating a new company logo and cohesive brand kit.

Working together with the MSI Realty team, a new real estate website was created to showcase our commercial and residential leases, new development, and Airbnb properties. The MSI Realty division of MSI acquired new properties in 2021, while continuing to work on projects within our existing properties in Hyde Park, Williston, our Farr Oasis Airbnb property, and three new residential properties in Morrisville.

A 62,000 square foot addition to the 153 Stafford Ave facility allowed for the construction of a new conference room, as well as office spaces for our CEO, MSI Trucking and Sitework Manager, Design Director, Senior Leasing Coordinator, IT Team, and Sales and Marketing Directors. We made updates to the Accounting and Human Resources offices, installed windows into the warehouse, added new sidewalks, and created a breakroom area for all employees to use.

We’ve welcomed many new businesses with commercial leases at our properties throughout Lamoille and Caledonia counties. Our three Airbnb properties continued to excel in their performance, and with the hard work and high standards of our cleaning team we were honored with the achievement of earning Super Host status for the entire year.

The MSI Trucking and Sitework team spent 2021 trucking heavy equipment for external customers, plowing and salt/sanding all the MSI properties during the winter months and quoted work for clearing land, installing driveways and septic systems, and excavating foundations.
